Bjorn Arvidsson is an established opera and concert singer who is known for his versatility, his expressive voice, dramatic ability and flawless use of language. This commitment has led to engagements in some of the most renowned cities and halls in Europe and the United States.
He has sung at Welsh National Opera in Cardiff, the Festival d’Aix en-Provence and productions at the Theatre de Rouen and Caen in France, Opera Zuid in Holland, the Wexford Festival, the theatres in Dortmund, Erfurt, Dessau and Saarbrücken in Germany, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and La Fenice in Venice. He has performed in over 60 operas, operettas and oratorios, highlights of which include such leading tenor roles as Tamino, Don Ottavio and Ferrando, Turiddu, Hoffmann, Don José, Rodolfo and Pinkerton, Nemorino and Edgardo, Eisenstein, Alfredo, Duca and Macduff, but also character roles such as Mime in Das Rheingold and the Fool in Wozzeck. He has sung most of the tenor solos in the great oratorios, such as the Evangelist in the Passions of St. John and St. Matthew, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, the Messiah, Elijah, The Creation, Mozart's Requiem Mass and many more. In 1998 He worked with BBC Wales and Welsh National Opera on a Television adaptation of the opera production L’Incoronazione di Poppea, directed by David Alden, which was aired all over the world. Engagements in the United States include: “Ceremony After A Fire Raid” by Daniel Kellogg at CU Boulder, Bach’s Mass in b minor in Denver and Boulder with the Boulder Bach Festival, and Verdi’s Requiem Mass with the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, a recording of which is available on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon.In 2013, Bjorn sang Dr. Cajus in the CU Opera Spring production of Verdi’s Falstaff to critical acclaim, and in January of 2014 Bjorn sang the tenor solo in Carmina Burana with the Midland/Odessa Symphony and Chorale.
